Kaaliye Care Launches Somalia's First Mass-Market Health Insurance Product

Baraka Insurance has introduced Kaaliye Care, Somalia's first affordable mass-market health insurance product, marking a significant milestone for the country's healthcare system. The launch event in Mogadishu drew attendance from Somalia's Federal Minister of Health, the Ministry of Youth, NGO representatives, corporate delegates, and members of civil society. The initiative supports progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Somalia. SORDI, through its SDC-funded Private Sector Partnerships in Health (PSPH) project, provided technical assistance to Baraka Insurance using a sustainability-focused market systems development approach, enabling the company to invest its own resources into the initiative. SORDI's partners in this work include DT Global and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. This collaboration reflects SORDI's ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, resilience, and knowledge management within Somalia's healthcare sector.
