Somalia’s healthcare sector is undergoing a transformation, driven by strategic partnerships and institutional collaborations. As part of this effort, Kaafi Hospital, in collaboration with the Public Sector Performance and Health (PSPH) project, successfully hosted a high-level networking event in Kismayo City on April 30, 2025.
The event aimed to establish strong institutional relationships between Kaafi Hospital and healthcare providers across Jubaland, particularly in Kismayo. By fostering cross-regional referrals and partnerships, the initiative contributes to a more integrated and efficient national healthcare system.
The networking event brought together senior officials from Somalia’s healthcare ecosystem, including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health, Jubaland Parliament, and various medical associations. With 105 attendees, the event provided a platform for meaningful discussions on enhancing accessibility to specialized care, improving referral coordination, and strengthening institutional ties.

One of the primary achievements of the event was the development of a preliminary referral coordination plan, ensuring that patients can seamlessly access specialized medical services across regions. Discussions also addressed challenges in interregional healthcare coordination and explored sustainable solutions.
This initiative is part of the PSPH project, implemented by DT Global in partnership with the Somali Research and Development Institute (SORDI) and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH). SORDI is proud to support this effort, marking a key milestone in advancing an integrated and efficient national healthcare system in Somalia.
The success of the Kaafi Hospital networking event demonstrates the growing momentum in Somalia’s healthcare sector. With continued collaboration and institutional support, this initiative paves the way for a stronger, more interconnected health system that ensures better access to quality care for all Somalis.
