We at SORDI and Appleseed, we’re on a mission to address the global shortage of healthcare professionals, estimated at around 18 million health workers. This shortage is impacting the ability of the health sector to provide essential services and is hindering progress towards achieving Universal Health Care.
To tackle this issue, SORDI and Appleseed Education are introducing the world’s first platform to scale health professional schools, starting with universities in Somalia. Our platform is designed to help universities overcome various challenges cost-effectively and systematically. It includes assessment and planning tools, an online learning platform, webinars, school document libraries, group procurement services, student dropout prevention initiatives, career counseling for students, and graduate recruitment support.
On Thursday the 18th of April 2024, we hosted an event for education leaders to launch this platform in Somalia. Professor Mohamed Mohamud Hassan (Biday), the rector of Benadir University and president of the association of Somali universities, and Professor Mohamed Yusuf Hassan, chairman of the Somalia National Health Professional Council (NHPC), attended the event and highlighted their interest in the platform for their institutes.
This event marked the beginning of our commitment to addressing the healthcare workforce shortage across Somalia. For universities interested in learning more about our platform, please contact us at info@sordi.so.
