On January 18, 2025, Amal Grand Hospital hosted a highly successful product launching and networking event in Borame. The event, organized by the PSPH project in partnership with the Somali Research and Development Institute (SORDI), which implements the PSPH project with DT Global and Swiss TPH, aimed to introduce new critical healthcare services to reduce medical tourism and improve access to specialized treatments within the region. More than 20 healthcare providers, regional health officers, and key stakeholders attended, demonstrating strong interest and commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality in the Somali Peninsula.
The primary objectives of the event were to introduce Amal Grand Hospital’s newly launched specialized healthcare services and medical solutions, strengthen collaboration between healthcare providers and regional health officers, raise awareness of the hospital’s capacity to offer unique specialty services such as maxillofacial surgeries and advanced medical treatments locally, foster networking opportunities among private and public healthcare providers, and gather feedback from healthcare professionals to align services with the community’s most pressing medical needs.

The event began with an opening ceremony, featuring a welcoming speech from hospital management that emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in healthcare. Medical specialists presented the newly launched services, including advanced orthopedic care, specialized surgical procedures, and high-tech diagnostic solutions. A panel discussion with healthcare professionals and policymakers explored the role of private healthcare institutions in addressing critical medical needs and reducing patient referrals abroad. Structured networking sessions enabled participants to engage in meaningful discussions and form stronger relationships and referral partnerships. Additionally, regional health officers addressed the significance of private-sector engagement in complementing public healthcare efforts.
The event successfully positioned Amal Grand Hospital as a key provider of specialized healthcare services in the region. Attendees expressed strong interest in integrating the hospital’s services into their referral networks, thereby enhancing accessibility for patients. Discussions during the event reinforced the need for continued investment in local healthcare infrastructure to reduce dependence on medical tourism. Healthcare professionals and regional health officers acknowledged the importance of collaboration in achieving universal health coverage goals.
The Amal Grand Hospital Product Launching and Networking Event was a major milestone in advancing specialized healthcare services within Borame and beyond. The event facilitated meaningful discussions, strengthened partnerships, and showcased the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable healthcare. Moving forward, Amal Grand Hospital aims to build on this momentum by expanding outreach efforts and further developing specialized services to meet the growing needs of the community.
