The Endline Findings Validation and Dissemination Workshop

On 27 February 2024, the International Compound’s Zebra Conference Room in Mogadishu, Somalia, hosted a pivotal event: the BAB External Evaluation Endline Findings Validation and Dissemination Workshop. Kicked off by DG Mohamed Mukhtar, Director General of the TVET department at MoECHE, the workshop commenced with gratitude to all attendees, including USAID, implementing partners, education ministries, and the LASER evaluation team, represented by SORDI. The DG highlighted the BAB project’s immense benefits, praising its well-crafted curriculum and framework, instrumental in supporting the Somali government’s educational initiatives. Notably, the project’s impact on literacy rates, teacher recruitment from local communities, and provision of free education to marginalized groups like those in IDP camps underscored its significance.

Following the opening remarks, Dr. Dalmar, Asia, and Mohamed from SORDI presented the workshop’s findings. Their presentation catalyzed engaging discussions and reflections among participants, leading to the emergence of key discussion points. Noteworthy recommendations revolved around enhancing teacher quality and incentives, improving coordination mechanisms, ensuring quality assurance, fostering safe school environments, and prioritizing beneficiary engagement and project sustainability. These insights will undoubtedly inform future educational endeavors in Somalia, guiding programs to further enhance education and address critical needs within the community.

In conclusion, the Validation and Dissemination Workshop provided a vital platform for stakeholders, especially government officials, to assess the project’s achievements and identify areas for improvement.
