Abstract
This study assessed the extent to which midwifery pre-service education programmes meet national and global standards, and explored how conflict affects pre-service midwifery education in Yobe State, Nigeria and the Banaadir and Galgaduud regions of Somalia. A rapid assessment was conducted in two midwifery education programmes in Yobe State and seven purposively selected programmes in Somalia, using an adapted Midwifery Education Rapid Assessment Tool, with data collected through interviews with programme leadership, teachers, students and clinical preceptors.
