Mogadishu Health Insurance Forum

Somalia's first Health Insurance Forum, facilitated by the SDC-funded Private Sector Partnerships in Health (PSPH) programme, was held on 30 April 2024 in Mogadishu, bringing together 95 stakeholders to discuss expanding health insurance access in Somalia. Dr. Abdi Dalmar, President of SORDI, welcomed participants and highlighted PSPH's role in supporting mass-market health insurance. Joseph Githinji and Siddharth Srivastava of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) explored the human development and business potential of mass-market health insurance. JP Otieno of Maisha Poa shared case studies from Kenya, and religious scholar Sheikh Abdixayi addressed the forum. The event established a platform for future engagement to advance a thriving private health insurance sector in Somalia.
